PRM / Media accreditation; parliamentary elections in Finland on 2 April 2023

    Accreditation is necessary for all foreign media representatives wishing to take part in the media events listed below.

    Journalists applying for accreditation must fulfill the following criteria:

    • They must be employed by a media organisation OR
    • a freelance journalist who has an assignment from a media organisation

    AND

    • have a valid press card OR
    • have a letter signed by editor-in-chief.

    Please apply for accreditation no later than 4 pm (Eastern European Time) Monday 20 March
    2023. Apply for accreditation here.

    The capacity for accredited media is limited. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will notify the applicants by email whether their accreditation was successful by 23 March.

    The accredited media will receive more detailed information about the schedule and technical arrangements.

    Sunday 2 April: Election Night

    The accredited media has access to the official election night. Media facilities are located in the city center of Helsinki. Media representatives have an opportunity to interview Finnish party leaders.

    The press room will offer simultaneous interpretation into English of the televised election night programme broadcast by Yle (Finnish Broadcasting Company).

    Monday 3 April: Analyses of the election result

    The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will organise an analysis and discussion event on the election results. The event is led by Jenni Karimäki, University Researcher, Political History from the University of Helsinki. The event will be held at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

    In Finland, parliamentary elections are held every four years. More information on the parliamentary elections can be found on the elections website of the Ministry of Justice.
