The topics and moderators of the five panels of HCF 2022 are:
- Science Policy Interface for the sound management of chemicals and waste: something in it for allhosted by Monika MacDevette, Chief of the Chemicals and Health Branch of the Economy Division of UNEP
- Accelerating the replacement of animal toxicity testing animated by Patience Brown, policy officer of the Environment, Health and Safety Division, OECD
- How to best define and stimulate Safe and Sustainable by Design Substances that can replace substances of concern chaired by Jurgen Tiedje, Head of the Industrial Transformation unit of DG Research and Innovation, European Commission
- Accelerating chemicals regulation: grouping of chemicals, generic approach to risk management and essential use concept moderated by Geraint Roberts, Consulting Editor, Chemical Watch
- Can chemicals risk management be integrated with circularity and climate policy objectives or the 3Cs concept chaired by Steven Van de Broeck, Director REACH & Chemicals Policy, CEFIC.
These five topics were chosen because of their relevance for the current and future chemicals regulatory system in the EU and their attractiveness for other countries having a regulatory system in place or in the making. Apart from the moderators the five panels will have four to five expert speakers that represent the different stakeholders involved in chemicals regulation. Most speakers are from the EU but each panel will also have at least one speaker from a third country giving an international view on these burning topics. This conference should be of high interest to all experts from governments, business and public society engaged in the design or implementation of legislation of industrial chemicals and in particular in how the EU is revising its many regulations as a consequence of the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability, launched in October 2020.
The full programme of HCF 2022 and Chembio Finland/Pulpaper exhibitions will be published early January alongside the opening of registration for live and online participants.
The Helsinki Chemicals Forum is organised by the non-profit Chemicals Forum Association in co-operation with a high number of Finnish and international partners. The event will be held as a hybrid event on 30 and 31 March 2022. The organisation is also open to sponsors. To learn more, go to
