Buying Properties Abroad is a special event for those interested in living in or buying a home abroad. The event, which was previously held at Wanha Satama, will transfer to Messukeskus and will, in 2019, complement the Matka Nordic Travel Fair offering. Buying Properties Abroad will be held twice a year: in January, in conjunction with the Matka Nordic Travel Fair and in October, at the Kokoustamo conference centre at Messukeskus.
The event will cater for those dreaming of moving abroad, and will present dream destinations and a wealth of facts about living outside the Finnish borders. The event will also be useful for property investors interested in the overseas housing market. The event will feature housing agents and agencies, developers, and housing projects with expert representatives. Information will provided on, for example, tax treatment, pension schemes, return on investment, practical arrangements related to removals, and the special characteristics of buying and renting properties, and living in different countries.
“Buying Properties Abroad will further strengthen the Matka Nordic Travel Fair offering. The economic boom is increasing interest in property investment. At the same time, many foreign destinations are seeing record-low property prices, while more and more Finns are planning to live abroad for longer periods of time. People can now come and visit the Matka Nordic Travel Fair to make these dreams come true”, says the sales group manager at the Matka Nordic Travel Fair, Anna Suominen.
“Buying Properties Abroad will be re-energised with the change of venue to Messukeskus and the partnership with the Matka Nordic Travel Fair. The Messukeskus facilities have undergone a major revamp, and the technical and digital services have been brought to a top level, on a par with any international benchmark. The change of venue has been greeted with enthusiasm by our customers”, says Tommi Harju, country manager of Fair Media International, the company responsible for organising Buying Properties Abroad.
The first Buying Properties Abroad fair was held in autumn 2003 in Stockholm. Fair Media International has since expanded its operations to other Nordic countries, and has organised dozens of Buying Properties Abroad events in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö and Helsinki.
In Helsinki, the event is held twice a year. Next autumn’s event will be held from 27 to 28 October 2018 in the Kokoustamo and Talvipuutarha conference spaces at Messukeskus, and next spring’s event will be held in conjunction with the Matka Nordic Travel Fair in January 2019.
